I grew up in the city of Kolkata in the eastern part of India. Kolkata is part of the state West Bengal. People of West Bengal and the neighboring country Bangladesh share the same language, Bengali and similar cuisine with local variance. Unlike most of India, Bengalis are non-vegetarians and so the food of Bengal (West Bengal and Bangladesh) brings the variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Additionally, Kolkata was the Capital of British India for more than 100 years which brings the influence of Western Cuisine that blends into the taste buds of Bengalis.
I grew up with Bengali culture where people show love and affection to friends and family by feeding them delicious home cooked food. The same culture transpired to my life as I grew up and had my own family.
I have a full time job and two kids. I like to do community work. I have a busy social life and I like to have fun with friends I am a foodie and I like to entertain guests with good home cooked food. Above all I like to serve healthy meal to my family that contains a balanced diet every day.
That explains the fact that I cook everyday at home to serve healthy food to my family and I cook pretty much every weekend to entertain guests. But time is always precious for me just like any other busy moms around me. So I always try to come up with recipes which are healthy and delicious.
